I'm just writing this to strongly remind myself, and hopefully others, not to simply let someone off in a car accident and not to simply trust someone, no matter how proper or nice of a person they may look.
On June 3rd 2015, as I was on my way back from Nibong Tebal, Penang, there was a line at the Smart Tag lane. A white Honda CRZ ( PLE 3813) suddenly hit my car from behind damaging my reverse sensors and bumper.
The driver of the Honda CRZ was a proper looking young chap named Kenwert Oh ( Oh Ken Wert ). We drove to the side of the toll office and discussed on the issue. We exchanged name cards. First of all, he told me not to report to the police as it was a small issue. Well, from my eyes it does look minor. Due to my lack of experience in cars, he quickly convinced me that the damage of my car is simple and only requires around RM 200-300 to get it fully fixed. He also asked me to follow him to another location (this can be very dangerous, please never do this especially if you're a woman) so that he can get money to pay me back.
We went to a petrol station nearby and parked at the side. He told me that he could not call his mother as his mother who is supposed to pass him his money was in a meeting. He appeared to be very sincere and even let me snap a picture of his driving license and identification card. He also told me that he was in a rush and he promised to bank in to my Maybank Account on damages incurred. Looking at the fact that I had his driving license and identification card, name card, and number. I let him off and we bid farewells.
I called up Kenwert Oh ( +60174171837 ) to discuss on it, he insisted that RM 200-300 is enough to fix everything and he told me the maximum he can bank in to me is RM 300. Left with no choice, I agreed in vain. He told me he will bank in as soon as he can and inform me about it.
Halfway back to Kuala Lumpur, at the rest area, I stopped and contacted him. He told me that his mother is still in meeting, lunch meeting. I trusted him and continued driving.
As soon as I got back to Kuala Lumpur. I called him, he told me, "I'm banking in right now". An hour later, I called him again, he told me, "I'm on my way to the bank". From then on, he stopped answering my calls, texts, whatsApp messages and any form on contact. He sent me a text, "Can u just pls wait a while".
That made me furious, because according to the law, I only had 24 hours for police report in case of an insurance claim. Moreover, in Malaysia, police reports for traffic accidents are localized, which means, by reporting in Kuala Lumpur, he will be immune to any form of legal action in Penang.
I waited the whole night in misery. The next morning, I Googled for his father's phone number via his company information on his name card. I found his father, Eddy Oh and told him the incident.
In the midst of the conversation, Kenwert Oh told his father that he already paid me RM 500 in cash and now I'm asking for RM 300 more. A father would naturally trust his child more than someone he never even met before. Then the father turned defensive and told me that he will be filing a report against me that I'm blackmailing his son for additional money, which I did not even receive a single cent. I begged his father to trust me, that I would not go all the way in such desperate measures to get his phone number to call him if his son has paid me any money at all. I was screaming and literary crying which was extremely humiliating as a human being.
After a long conversation and persuasion, I was forced by the situation to accept only the mediocre RM 300, which is not even enough to fix my bumper, while I'm having issues with my reverse sensors which cost a few hundred bucks each. It was a "Take it or leave it situation" if you understand what I mean.
A few hours later, the father, as promised, banked in only RM 300 to me and I'm left with absolutely no right to ask for more and I had to fork out a huge sum more to fix my car, damaged by his son Kenwert Oh.
I'm writing this now, to remind myself, and others not to simply let wrong doers go, especially in a car accident where the other party is clearly in the wrong. The suffering and monetary damage are psychological, emotional, and the time lost in handling such cases is priceless.

Kenwert Oh , Oh Ken Wert , I hope you'll learn from this and know how much damage your mistakes and lies can do to others. If you continue driving like that, next time you'll cost a LIFE.
