(Available in PIANO!)
Mood : Playful Mood (Very Playful!)
Key : G Major (Simple Song)
This is another nice song from Taylor. Song's in G Major. Very Straightforward! The only challenging part is the coordination because we're playing the Melody in between an accompaniment with a unique beat. ie G and D twice.
Click HERE to view the video. You'll need to watch it while reading a printed copy of this tutorial. Like usual, use your ears to figure out the Right Hand Melody. If you don't know how, read from my first few tutorials and practice the songs from there one by one before you reach this tutorial. By the time you practice around 10 songs, I promise you'll be almost there. By the time you're at 21st song, you'll be better than me because it has already become your HABIT.
If you choose to give up here. Good Luck =)
Introduction :
G and D x4 (Twice Each)
The Music Just Starts!
I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in
On a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl
(Use 5th Apart Chords. GD 2x, DA 2x, AE 2x, CG 2x back to GD. Second Part a little Different on AE and CG. Slows Down and Pause. Right Hand plays the Melody)
I sneak in and see your friends
And her snotty little family
All dressed in pastel
And she is yelling at a bridesmaid
Somewhere back inside a room
Wearing a gown shaped like a pastry
(Slightly Louder. Use 5th Apart Chords with Octaves. GD 2x, DA 2x, AE 2x, CG 2x back to GD and repeat)
This is surely not
What you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream
Where I stand and say:
(Smooth and Gentle, Left Hand dances on A, C, G, D back to A, C, then D. Pause)
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said "speak now"
(CHORUS! Left Hand Dances on Chords G, D, A, C while Right Hand plays the Melody with Chords on important parts. Rich!)
(Slight Bridge. Same Chords G, D, A, C)
Fond gestures are exchanged
And the organ starts to play
A song that sounds like a death march
(Louder. Use 5th Apart Chords with Octaves at your own Unique Beat. GD 2x, DA 2x, AE 2x, CG 2x back to GD and repeat)
And I am hiding in the curtains
It seems that I was uninvited
By your lovely bride-to-be
(Louder. Use 5th Apart Chords with Octaves at your own Unique Beat. GD 2x, DA 2x, AE 2x, CG 2x back to GD and repeat)
She floats down the aisle
Like a pageant queen
But I know you wish it was me
You wish it was me (Don't cha?)(Smooth and Gentle, Left Hand dances on A, C, G, D back to A, C, then D. Pause)
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said "speak now"
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Don't wait or say a single vow
Your time is running out
And they said, "speak now"
(CHORUS! Second Part can be more Creative! Left Hand Dances on Chords G, D, A, C while Right Hand plays the Melody with Chords on important parts. Rich!)
Oh Oh Oh! ( said speak now.... )
(Slight Bridge. Same Chords G, D, A, C)
I hear the preacher say
"Speak now or forever ho-old your pea-ea-ea-eace
There's the silence, there's my last chance
I stand up with shaking hands, all eyes on me
(Bridge! Left Hand dances at a unique beat on E, C, G, D then A, C, D)
Horrified looks from
Everyone in the room
But I'm only looking at you.
(Almost Silent. Playfully play, this part. Chords are A, C, G, D)
I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in
On a white veil occasion
But you are NOT the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl!!!!!
(Louder. Use 5th Apart Chords with Octaves at your own Unique Beat. GD 2x, DA 2x, AE 2x, CG 2x Emo End!)
So don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said, "speak now"
And you Say
Let's run away now
I'll meet you when
I'm out of my tux at the back door
Baby, I didn't say my vows
So glad you were around when they said "Speak now"
(CHORUS! Second Part can be more Creative! Left Hand Dances on Chords G, D, A, C while Right Hand plays the Melody with Chords on important parts. Rich!)
